Reunion 2011 was a tremendous success with just over 100 Brothers from the 1979 - 1986 graduating classes attending at various points throughout the long weekend. Guys traveled in from CA, TX, FL, VA, CO, PA, NJ, IL, MI, NC, WI, MN and various burgs throughout OH. Wayne and a group of Actives were in town to partake in the festivities which included two days of golf, some time spent uptown, a Pluto's Pups dinner courtesy of Kevin "Pluto" Pilarski, and a lot of laughs rehashing old stories on the front porch.
Once again, 300 N. Tallawanda was the place to be. Of all the fraternities on campus, EN drew the largest crowd. The porch was hopping with many old sorority and non-EN fraternity friends dropping by for a beer. At one point, the Delts (also having a slightly smaller alumni gathering of their own) decided to point their sound sytem at the Sigma Nu House and play a few songs like "Burning Down the House", "Fire", and "We Didn't Start the Fire". Our response was to send EN Team 6 over the Delt House to kill the power, darkening the southwest corner of Tallawanda and Vine; all in good fun.
Oozie organized great golf events for both Friday and Saturday with about 36 golfers playing in each event. Much like we had to do for the Senior Opens of our youth, we'll have to register as "Sigma Chi Alumni" for our next event at Indian Ridge due to some liberties taken with golf carts during our play over the weekend. I also recommend helmets and cups for those intending to play in future Ernest Toutesh Scrambles and Shecky Fink Opens, and would encourage you to check the hole before reaching in to retrieve your ball.
Most of the "Old House" guys stayed in the dorms while the younger guys and guys with spouses stayed at Huston Woods or a local hotel. We believe all security deposits were returned in full.
Aside from the expected ailments resulting from consumption of cheap beer, cheese coneys and SDS Pizza, only one major injury was reported; a member of the 1984 class blew a flip-flop and did a face-plant into a curb resulting in an early morning visit to McCullaugh-Hyde for a few stitches.
All in all, the event was fantastic. We had a lot of laughs and we've been prompted to increase the frequency of our EN multi-class reunions. Thanks to all who attended and we look forward to the next one!!
